Individual Counselling

John offers confidential psychological counselling and uses a solution-based approach in the counselling process. He will introduce simple mindfulness and relaxation techniques, where these will be helpful.

The sessions focus on the development of a relaxed and respectful therapeutic relationship, which has been shown to be a significant factor in psychological and emotional healing.

Normally, these consultations are 50 minutes in duration.

The main focus in the first session is on the taking of a case history and some discussion around your main concerns. Then a treatment plan will be agreed upon to support symptom relief and improved functioning.

John is a registered Counselling Psychologist with the Psychological Board of Australia (PBA), a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and a Fellow of the College of Counselling Psychologists (CCOUNS). He follows APS guidelines on ethics and professional development and he has 30 years clinical experience working with individuals, couples and groups.
